From December 9-11, an authors’ workshop was held at the AIA premises in preparation for the book project “Responsibility in Space”. The AIA NRW Outer Space Affairs working group has brought together experts to explore this urgent question of responsibility, spanning law, policy, and philosophy. In his keynote speech, Prof. Hobe, emphasised the importance of responsibility in today’s decisions, noting that they must pass the test of ensuring the next generation can live with the consequences of our actions.

In eight panels over three days with 28 experts, the question of how responsibility can be conceptualized theoretically and methodologically and what concrete practical effects this can have was discussed from an interdisciplinary perspective. With this workshop, the planned book project has clearly taken shape.

AIA extends its gratitude to the authors for their dedication and invaluable contributions to this book, which aims to illuminate the dimensions of these critical issues and pave the way for meaningful action: Stephan Hobe, Chelsea Haramia, Güneş Ünüvar, Raúl González Muñoz, Adam Bower, Lina Pohl, Daliah Bibas, Katharina Glaab, Ingo Baumann, Laetitia C.
